Bulgaria's Unemployment Down for 3rd Consecutive Month Bulgarias unemployment rate decrease to 9.53% in May 2010, a 0.42% drop compared to April.
The reduction is marking the third consecutive month with a slight reduction in the number of unemployed Bulgarians, show official government statistics.
Sixteen unemployed persons competed for one job opening in Bulgaria at the end of May, according to Ralitsa Steliyanova, Director of the State Employment Agency.
A total of 353 000 unemployed were registered with the Agency in May, which is 16 000 fewer than in April. About 31 000 of these hold university degrees.
According to Steliyanova, the seasonal industries such as tourism, agriculture, trade, and certain manufacturing sectors are responsible for the slightly reduced number of the unemployed.
A total of 23 000 newly unemployed persons were registered with the Agency in May, which is 12 400 fewer than the previous month.
