EBRD Please with Bulgaria's Fiscal Policy

EBRD President Jean Lemierre praised Bulgaria's economic and fiscal policy during his meeting with the country's Finance Minister Milen Velchev.
Velchev, who is also EBRD Governor for Bulgaria heads the country's delegation participating in the 14th Annual Meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Belgrade.
Lemierre, however, has expressed concerns over the continuity of the achieved pace in both the economic and fiscal policy after the June elections in Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian delegation also hailed EBRD's work in the country especially in the financial and the energy sectors. Still, Minister Velchev urged the bank's management to boost its efforts in the industry, agriculture and retail sectors.
While in Belgrad Minister Velchev talked to Poland's National Bank Governor Leszek Balcerowicz, who expressed his positive impressions from Bulgaria's fiscal policy.
Bulgaria's finance minister joined a meeting of business leaders from Western Europe. They all agreed that most of the Balkans' countries are willing to follow the example of Bulgaria and Romania in reforming their economy en route to the European Union. |
